Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Assoc. Prof. Bajram Begaj, through a message, today commemorated the second anniversary of the fall on duty in the NATO mission in Latvia of the Homeland Martyrs, Major Klodian Tanushi and Lance Corporal Zarife Hasanaj.
The message sent is as following:
“Today is the Second Anniversary of the fall on duty in the NATO mission in Latvia, of the Homeland Martyrs Major Klodian Tanushi and Lance Corporal Zarife Hasanaj.
It has been two years since your loss. The Armed Forces lost two of its best effective who had a career ahead of them, a life. This is a sad and difficult day for the comrades, colleagues, and co-workers, for all the Armed Forces, but above all, it is extremely difficult and painful for their loved ones, parents, children, families, siblings, friends, and relatives. Today we are here not only to share the pain of the families of Tanushi and Hasanaj, but also to remember with honor and respect the deeds and the separation from the life of these irreplaceable sons, soldiers, and heroes of Albania. You, dear family, will never be alone. We will always be with you, always together.
On this Remembrance Day, we all reflect on the sacrifices of these martyrs of ours, for the courageous acts and self-sacrifice that render honor, dignity, and pride to the Armed Forces, the country, and the great Alliance to which we belong to. They remind us all that the military profession requires young men and women, men and women with a sense of commitment, self-denial, and sacrifice. Klodian and Zarife's fall on duty is living proof of the commitment and sacrifice of our Armed Forces in every engagement and mission of NATO, in the service of the citizens and the security of the country. They remind us that we all owe them not only a tribute of gratitude but also the modernization of their branch of service and all the Armed Forces.
Their sublime sacrifice will not be forgotten. It is part of the daily motivation of all girls, women, and men in uniform, who quietly and silently, are every day, within the country and abroad, ready and in service of national and Euro-Atlantic needs and obligations.
May the memory of the Homeland Martyrs, Major Klodian Tanushi and Lance Corporal Zarife Hasanaj, live on”!
