The ceremony was opened by the Special Forces Battalion Commander, LTC Qazim Hoxha who after thanking all the participants for coming in this symbolic ceremony, said: “Through the song, we honor the memory of the son, brother, husband, father, friend and our best colleague, Martyr of the Nation, Captain Feti Vogli, of the dignified soldier of the Armed Forces and Special Forces Battalion, who fell in the line of duty in the combat mission in Afghanistan.”
The ceremony was greeted by Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Jeronim Bazo, who, among other things, stated that November marks the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Albania, an event recorded in our history, where thousands of sons and daughters of this nation gave their lives for freedom and Homeland. General Bazo further referred to a poem of one of the heroes of world wars, Col. John McCrae, entitled “In Flanders Fields”, which has become the refrain to remember the fallen:
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields
“Mr. Beci’s song sung by the renowned singer Shaqiri will be a hymn not only to remember and honor the Martyr of the Nation, Captain Feti Vogli, but also a hymn for other martyrs of freedom. Let us hear this song together which affects us all”, concluded the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Jeronim Bazo.
Before interpreting the song, the singer and well-known composer, Mr. Ilir Shaqiri addressed to all participants a special greeting: “I feel honored for your appraisal. Today you along with NATO, as its inseparable part of the civilized world, spread the freedom beam around the globe, returning the missing smile to every child. Captain Feti Vogli was one of you, kept by the Homeland in its pantheon of heroes, while we will have him as a tear of sorrow, as it says the song itself”, said Mr. Shaqiri.
The ceremony continued with the gifts of the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Jeronim Bazo, Deputy Minister of Defence, Mr. Dritan Hila and Special Forces Commander, LTC Qazim Hoxha, to the family, Mr. Gjok Beci, Mr. Ilir Shaqiri and Brigadier General (R), Kudusi Lamen.
