Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Xhemal Gjunkshi also held a meeting with the Defence Minister of Macedonia, Mr. Talat Xhaferi. “The successful cooperation between the Armed Forces, especially in joint exercises, which began in 2003, has been very successful,"- said Minister Xhaferi. This cooperation is extremely important, not only for good neighborly relations between the two countries, but also for the whole Balkan region, assessed during the conversation Minister Xhaferi. He also thanked General Gjunkshi for the possibility of Macedonian military education in the Armed Forces Academy, which has already become a tradition and has brought valuable experience.
General Gjunkshi assured Minister Xhaferi for our country’s support with the aim of a quicker membership of Macedonia in NATO. Further on, General Gjunkshi expressed his confidence that cooperation in the defense field between our countries will score even higher levels, especially through training and qualifications in the national centers, as well as within regional joint initiatives in which our countries play an active and important role. General Gjunkshi addressed a special assessment in terms of friendly and fruitful cooperation of the military in both countries in Afghanistan, within ISAF mission.
Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Xhemal Gjunkshi expressed his belief and commitment in these meetings that Albania will continue working vigorously in order to intensify the good neighborly relations, not only with neighboring countries, but throughout the Balkan region.
