Today around 00:25 returned home "Eagle 6" contingents and "Medical Team of Armed Forces", a total of 59 people. “Eagle 6” Contingent, effective of Special Forces Battalion, subordinate structure of the Land Forces, was composed of 49 militaries, out of whom 12 officers, 36 NCOs and one private, on mission in Kandahar, Afghanistan. The Medical Team of Armed Forces consisted of 10 persons, doctors and nurses, on mission in Kabul, Afghanistan.
The troops were welcomed at Rinas Airport by Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Xhemal Gjunkshi and senior officers of the Armed Forces. Contingent Commander of “Eagle 6” on Combat mission in Knadahar, Lieutenant Colonel Agim Kuçana as well as Lieutenant Colonel Xhemil Alizoti, head of the “Medical Team”, reported to Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, General Gjunkshi, that the effectives they led, successfully completed the constitutional mission, by receiving positive assessments from the militaries of the Alliance.
In his speech, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Xhemal Gjunkshi, welcomed two contingents, "Eagle 6" and "Medical Team" and on behalf of the Armed Forces, and the entire Albanian people congratulated them for their achievements in successful accomplishment of the task side by side with the Alliance troops. Major General Gjunkshi has further emphasized: "In combat mission, "Eagle 6" demonstrated ability and professionalism that Special Forces Battalion has to act as equal with our partners in the zone of combat operation in Kandahar, Afghanistan, by successfully performing tasks of the most difficult and as same as those of Special Forces of the Allied countries”. General Gjunkshi also congratulated the Medical Team, which has given its contribution in support of the Afghan population and medical assistance to Afghan health personnel. “What makes us all happier”, - stated among others the General Gjunkshi, - “is the fact that you return safely to your families”.
These missions show the ability and resources that our Armed Forces have to act as equal with our partners, in the area of operation in the successful completion of missions for as long as will be needed.
