Today at noon, Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania, Major General Xhemal Gjunkshi, hosted in an official meeting, the UK Deputy Ambassador accredited in Tirana, Mr. Stephen Hickling, who was accompanied by the British Military Attaché in our country.
The meeting was held in the framework of bilateral cooperation between the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania and the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom, focusing particularly in the context of the Albanian-British joint training "ALBANIAN LION 2013", which is being hold in our country from 11 August-13 September 2013. In this exercise about 3000 (three thousand) British troops will take part, mainly "Commando" and "Navy Forces", as well as a group of 35 troops from the Dutch Armed Forces, which operate together with British troops.
Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Gjunkshi after appreciating the cooperation in the field of defense between our country and Great Britain paid special attention to the training, which he considered the largest of its kind developed in our country. General Gjunkshi assured Deputy/Ambassador of Great Britain of taking measures and for the successful accomplishment of the mission of the joint bilateral exercise.
On his behalf Deputy Ambassador of Great Britain Mr. Stephen Hickling, after he thanked the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces for the reception reserved, praised the achievements of the Albanian Armed Forces and the measures taken for serious commitment to the Defense Ministry and Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, in creating of all the conditions for the successful development of the training "ALBANIA LION 2013".
