The Armed Forces continue to be engaged in Search and Rescue operations

Armed Forces structures continue to be engaged with all operational capacities and operational units in areas affected by the earthquake, from Durrës and Thumanë to Laç and Lezhë. They are in constant contact with the National Civil Protection Agency for the reception and distribution of humanitarian aids received from different donors and the accompaniment and accommodation of teams coming from partner and allied countries.

AF fully committed to cope with the situation generated by the earthquake

The Armed Forces structures continue to be on alert and are engaged with Forces to cope with the consequences of the 6.4 Richter earthquake that hit our country.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces, in cooperation with all the Armed Forces structures and the heads of the National Civil Protection Agency, continue to be fully engaged with forces and resources in Search and Rescue operations in Durrës and Thumanë, the two main damaged sites.

The Armed Forces have operated on the ground with 9 rescue teams, 3 in the Thumanë and 6 in the Durrës. They have been in constant contact with the National Civil Protection Agency for the reception, deployment and engagement of teams coming from partner and allied countries as well as the management of aid provided by them.

Armed Forces fully committed to assist population affected by the earthquake

The Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania are in full standby after the difficult situation created by the 6.4 Richter magnitude earthquake, which hit our country in the early hours of Tuesday morning, with the epicenter on the coast of Durrës. About 2.000 effective are engaged in the Search and Rescue operations (Engineer, Special and Command Forces).

Also 1,900 Police effective are on the ground and on full alert, along with municipal firefighting teams, dozens of medical teams and hundreds of citizens who have been deployed on the ground and are on full alert to enable evacuation and rescue of people stranded in the ruins and putting up tents and sheltering families whose homes have been damaged.

Brigadier General Kollçaku at the "Open Day" in Berat

Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Bardhyl Kollçaku participated in the "Open Day", held by the Armed Forces in Berat, in the framework of commemorating the 75th Anniversary of Albania Liberation as well as the recruitment campaign in the Armed Forces under the motto "Youth-Talent-Opportunity-Dignity".

Brigadier General Kollçaku, accompanied by 12 district prefects of the country, visited the booths set up by the Personnel Recruitment Center and the 3rd Infantry Battalion, Poshnjë. They were closely acquainted with the opportunities the Armed Forces provide for the young generation as well as with the modern equipment and armament available to the AF.

11th Senior Course on Security and Defense closing ceremony

The closing ceremony of the 11th Senior Course on Security and Defense took place today in the Auditorium.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Defense, Olta Xhaçka, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Bardhyl Kollçaku, Training and Doctrine Commander Brigadier General Bajram Begaj, generals of commands and main units of the Armed Forces, directors, as well as senior military officers of the MoD and AAF. The Ambassador of the Republic of France Christina Vasak, military attachés accredited to our country such as the German, Greek, Croatian, Italian, English and French were also present.

Brigadier General Kollçaku pays an official visit to the Allied Joint Force Command in Naples, Italy

Upon the invitation of the Commander of the Allied Joint Force Command in Naples, Admiral James Foggo, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Bardhyl Kollçaku paid a two-day official visit in Naples, Italy.

After the reception ceremony, Admiral Foggo and Brigadier General Kollçaku held a meeting during which they discussed security issues in the region and beyond, the role of the Allied Joint Force Command (JFC), Naples, and the role and contribution of the Albania Armed Forces in the interest of Security and Stability in the Balkans.
