Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces attended the 13th Balkan Countries CHOD’s Forum

 

Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Bardhyl Kollçaku attended the 13th Balkan Countries Chiefs of Staff Forum.

In addition to the participation of delegations from 9 Balkan countries, among the special guests invited in this meeting was also the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Air Marshal Sir Stuart Peach, the Deputy Commander of the Allied Joint Force Command Naples, the UN military adviser for peacekeeping operations as well as a representative from the European Union.

The purpose of the meeting was to further develop regional military cooperation, enhance security and stability in the Balkans, identify and develop a regional crisis management mechanism, as well as enhance interoperability among the Armed Forces of the regional countries through joint training commitments and missions. 

The annual report of the Coordination Group was presented at the meeting. At the end of the meeting the Chiefs of Staffs signed a joint statement.

The annual meeting of Balkan Chiefs of Staff is a regional initiative, established in 2007. The main purpose of the forum is to boost military co-operation at all levels and improve the capacities of regional states so that they can respond respectively to potential risks of asymmetrical nature and non-military crises.
