Program development of TRADOC

The Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) represents a complete system of education and individual training, of the doctrine development and support of collective training for the Armed Forces (AF).

This system, integrated within a single command, has the mission to attain the individual education and training of the Armed Forces personnel, in accordance with the requirements of modern developments, aiming the preparation of the Armed Forces personnel to cope with the complexity of future missions on the national level or in the framework of international commitments.

Special professional education of the Armed Forces officers

The special professional education aims to transmit knowledge and necessary professional terminology to enable the officers to exercise with competence their leading responsibilities in the context of troops, weapons or various services in the Armed Forces. During this programme, the young officers learn to lead with professional competency the basic military units (platoon), weapons systems (armoured personnel carrier, ship, helicopter), and the military technology or equipment.

Basic education of candidates for Armed Forces officers

The basic education includes the process that begins immediately after the recruitment of the candidates for officer. The purpose of this programme is to educate junior officers of the Armed Forces, who are able to recognize and apply in practice the basics of the officer profession. Through the basic education programme of the officer, the most important values and qualities of the military professionalism are transmitted such as, motivation to serve with determination and deep confidence to the national interests, the readiness to take responsibility and solve tasks with high risk, the ability to assess deeply and quickly, as well as the ability to make quick and accurate decisions. An important part of the programme goal is also the transmission of basic knowledge from fundamental areas of military leadership and management, strategy, operations, tactics, technology, social and behavioural sciences, political science and state, human rights and law. The basic education programme has also a significant training component, which summarizes military preparation, physical training and learning of foreign languages.

Recruitment of officers in the Albanian Armed Forces

The recruitment of candidates for officers is one of the crucial stages in the process of military education. The purpose of the recruitment is to enable the selection of the best candidates who offer the most favourable prerequisites for becoming eligible officers through the successful learning of the basic education programme.

The recruitment involves the phase of the candidates’ selection test and the phase of basic military training.

The test aims to select those candidates who have good qualities, intellectual values and physical capacity. These indicators are identified through the application of modern testing procedures, which include the evaluation of the results achieved during the university studies, the assessment of the motivation to serve in the Armed Forces, assessment of the potential to face the burden of the mission management and military command, as well as the evaluation of physical conditions.

Education of the Armed Forces officers

Officers are considered one of the most important categories of the Armed Forces personnel. The mission of the officer corps is leadership, management and command of the military structures of the Armed Forces in peacetime, crisis and military conflicts. The Armed Forces officers must be in condition to take the responsibility of leadership and command, as well as exercise these responsibilities with high professional competence in all possible situations. Normally, the corps of officers should be able to fulfil its mission under difficult and complex conditions, with insufficient information, limited human and material resources, limited guidelines and instructions by the superior levels, with insufficient time and under conditions of extreme risks, including the risk of his life and subordinate troops.
