Special professional education of the Armed Forces officers

The special professional education aims to transmit knowledge and necessary professional terminology to enable the officers to exercise with competence their leading responsibilities in the context of troops, weapons or various services in the Armed Forces. During this programme, the young officers learn to lead with professional competency the basic military units (platoon), weapons systems (armoured personnel carrier, ship, helicopter), and the military technology or equipment.

The special professional education programme is developed based on the types of troops, specialities and services of the Armed Forces. Depending on the types of troops, specialities and services of the Armed Forces, the first phase of special professional education programme lasts from 8 to 12 months.

At the end of the first phase of the special professional education programme the junior officers may serve with the troops, force or relevant service and start directly to serve as officer in the Armed Forces.

The second phase of special professional education programme takes place after a certain period of service in the Armed Forces and is aimed at preparing officers to lead at a higher organizational level within the troops, force or service.

At the end of the second phase of the special professional education programme the officers are trained to serve on the second organizational level of the military management (company, or battalion headquarters as specialists) and are eligible to apply for the rank of captain.
