Air Force structure

The Air Force consists of the Air Force Command and Staff, Farka Air Base, Kuçova Air Base, Air Surveillance Centre, Military Meteorological Service and Air Force Support Company.

Farka Air Base

Mission:
Farka Air Base, as a  part of the Air Force, with its capabilities, carries out the support the medium transportation of troops, materials and medical evacuation in combat and non-combat operations, in humanitarian operations, SAR service and other duties in the interest of the operation.

 

Tasks/duties:
It has the duty, in interaction with the Air Force structures and other Armed Forces commands to provide air support to joint operations. In the context of the mission accomplishment, it carries out the following tasks:

- Ensures the combat readiness of the aircrafts in use, in accordance with the defined operational levels,

- Conducts the accomplishment of the combat and training tasks in accordance with ICAO standards, Eurocontrol and NATO,

- Conducts the VIP transportation, transport of troops and materials and VIP in combat operations,

- Supports and conducts humanitarian operations to help the population (civil emergencies and natural disasters),

- Conducts intelligence and reconnaissance tasks of national interest and NATO one,

- Performs monitoring according the circumstances of the land and maritime borders in the interest of special duties and rapid decision-making,

- Develops separately or in conjunction with other parties search and rescue operations (SAR),

- Ensures the preparation and training of personnel with the standard technology in use and in the interest of fulfilling missions in various types of operations,

- Provides and assures maintenance services on time and according to the technical requirements specified for the aircraft, for ground vehicles in use,

- Carries out the MEDAVAC transport operations of patients,

- Participates and supports various “joint” exercises with the Armed Forces and other national institutions.

Kuçova Air Base

Mission: 
Kuçova Air Base, as a part of the Air Force, with its capabilities, conducts the Air Force personnel training, the support for the transportation of troops and materials in combat and noncombat operations, as well as humanitarian ones. Supports and creates the airport capabilities for the HNS and air policing of the Republic of Albania with NATO.

Duties/tasks:
It has the duty, in interaction with other Air Forces structures and other Armed Forces commands to provide the air support in accordance with the mission. In the context of the mission, it carries out the following tasks:

- Ensures combat readiness in accordance with the defined operational levels,

- Provides the support with the necessary infrastructure for the training of pilots and specialists according to the mission of the Troop School,

- Provides the transportation of troops and materials in the interest of other forces in different operations,

- Participates and contributes with personnel and means in humanitarian operations during emergencies, natural disasters and with limited-service during SAR operations,

- Creates the conditions as host country for NATO aircrafts (HNS),

- Modernizes and develops the necessary infrastructure for the creation of infrastructure capacity for the implementation of new options to air policing,

- Conducts monitoring according the circumstances of land and maritime borders,

- Ensures, provides and carries out maintenance services on time and according to the technical requirements specified for aircrafts and for ground vehicles in use,

- Conducts different exercises with the Infantry Battalion in Poshnje, in the interest of completing the missions as air transportable unit.

Air Surveillance Centre

Mission:
The Air Surveillance Centre, as part of the Air Force, with its capabilities and NATO ones, conducts and integrates surveillance information for the creation of the air “picture” and supports and ensures the conditions for carrying out the CRC functions, as part of the NATINADMS system, air policing, control of aircrafts in use by the Air Force, and management of renegade cases inside the airspace of the Republic of Albania.

Duties/tasks:
It has the duty, in interaction with the Air Force structures and other Armed Forces commands to provide support with detection, surveillance and air command-control while conducting missions and joint operations. In the context of the mission it has the duty to train, prepare, equip and maintain the readiness of the forces and means:

- Monitoring, surveillance and control of the airspace of the Republic of Albania,

- Warning in advance in case  of the air danger,

- Exchange of information for the surveillance and creation of the air picture (RAP) with NATO CRC and civil institutions (National Air Traffic Centre),

- Ensures sufficient operational capabilities with the NATO C2 air structure and NATINADMS system,

- Supports the Air Force command and control during operations,

- Supports joint operations in the framework of the Armed Forces, and humanitarian operations assisting the population,

- Supports the search and rescue operations (SAR),

- Conducts the management of the aircrafts during various exercises and operations.

Military Meteorological Service

Mission: 
The Military Meteorological Service, as part of the Air Force, with its capabilities, provides necessary information on meteorological conditions to support the combat and non-combat operations, humanitarian ones and SAR service in the interest of the Armed Forces and other institutions of the Republic of Albania.

Duties/tasks:

Within the framework of the mission, it performs the following tasks:

- Provides ongoing information on the weather situation and weather forecast for the whole territory of the Republic of Albania,

- Forecasts in time based on modern methods of dangerous atmospheric phenomena according to international and NATO standards,

 -Supports with METEO information the Armed Forces operations and Allied troops in case of need within the country,

- Supports with METEO information the management of the Air Force means for the pilots training planned all the time,

- Provides assistance with meteorological data for the safety of air flights, marine navigation or in cases of civil emergency,

- Exchanges meteorological information with other national and international structures, 

- Provides online and continuous meteorological information to the CRC,

- Trains and increases professionalism through recognition and use of equipment implementing the duty with relevant personnel,

- Modernizes equipment and systems for the implementation of the standards of international and regional organizations, for the scientific evaluation of meteorological phenomena in our country.

Support Company

Mission:
The Air Force Support Company supports the Air Force staff in the deployment area and in operations for the safety, security, transport and logistics supply. It supports airport operations at the arrival and departure of the contingents and material participating in NATO operations or joint exercises in our country.

Duties/tasks:

Within the framework of the mission, it performs the following tasks:

- Performs airport operations for the contingents, goods and military equipment,

- Creates conditions and supports NATO allies forces with airport operations,

- Creates conditions and necessary capacities for HNS in accordance with the Air Force mission,

- Performs the protection and security of the personnel, administrative and operational infrastructure,

- Logistics support in the location area and relocation one in the interest of the Air Force mission,

- Provides troops and means transportation of the Air Force in peacetime and various operations,

- Conducts the support implementation with repair and maintenance services of systems and equipment in use,

- Ensures communication with the superior and subordinate units,

- Provides medical support,

- Administration of infrastructure and materials, systems, equipment and means.
